Event Report: EHC Round Table of Stakeholders on ‘Clinical Trials in Haemophilia’
Haemophilia is a rare and congenital bleeding disorder caused by a genetic defect, resulting in a lack of or insufficient coagulation factors VIII or IX in the body. In affected individuals, this causes an inability to clot blood, leading to bleeds in the joints, muscles and soft tissues. If left untreated, this can lead to disability and sometimes death. It is widely agreed that the optimal st...
متن کاملCongenital Hypofibrinogenemia Detected during Preoperative Workup for Major Cardiac Surgery
Afibrinogenemia or hypofibrinogenemia is a quantitative defect in fibrinogen. It is a rare disease with estimated frequency of 1 in 1,000,000 population. Routine preoperative screening tests of coagulation disorders are insufficient to detect subtle disorders of fibrinogen. Herein, we report a child who was supposed to undergo open cardiac surgery for a large atrial septal defect. Preoperative ...
متن کاملIn Vitro and in Vivo studies of the Effects of Cold Argon Plasma on Decreasing the Coagulation Time
Introduction Cold plasma is a self-sterilized, painless, and non-contact method in surgeries. These properties allow it to be applied to the living tissues and heat-sensitive parts. The aim of this study was to design a new cold plasma producer device and evaluate the effects of cold argon plasma on decreasing the coagulation time of blood drop in vitro and that of the injured liver blood in vi...
متن کاملUsing Xenogenic (Calf Foetal) Osteochondral Transplantation for Articular Cartilage Defect in Rabbit Model
Background: The destruction of articular cartilage is the major cause of articular problems. The articular cartilage has little repair postertial due to lack of perichondrium and direct blood circulation. It is, therefore important to consider this phenomena in surgical treatments. One of the articular cartilage reconstructive surgeries is using Osteo-Chondral graft. The main purpose of this re...
متن کاملTotal Joint Arthroplasty for Hemophilia
Hemophilia is hereditary x-chromosomal recessive disorders. Hemophilia A is caused by deficiency or absence of coagulation factor VIII and hemophilia B is caused by that of coagu‐ lation factor IX. The prevalence is reported as one in 5000 in the male population and one in 10000 overall. These diseases are classified into three categories according to serum coagula‐ tion factor activity; severe...
